Hi, I’m Rachel.
I’m a humanistic-existential counsellor based in Cardiff city centre.
I offer face-to-face, online and phone therapy sessions for adults and young people aged 16+.
My approach
Life can be a real struggle at times. I can help you feel safe, supported and understood as you make sense of the world and your experiences.
You might be feeling low and despondent, or lost and lacking in purpose. You could be going through life changes or dealing with conflict in a relationship. You may be overwhelmed by day-to-day worries, or feeling stuck in old patterns that are getting in the way of living a full and satisfying life.
Whatever you’re going through, I’m here to listen. I aim for us to establish a warm, trusting relationship, in which you feel unconditionally accepted for who you are.
We can work together to build a shared understanding of what it's like to be you, generating insights about your thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour. In time, this may lead to you making meaningful changes in your life and finding a more authentic way of being.
My approach to counselling is known as humanistic-existential. You can read more about this here.
My experience
Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (BACP-accredited), plus additional Place2Be modules on working with children and young people.
Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies.
Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
Enhanced DBS check.
I have worked with clients on issues including anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal feelings, bereavement and loss, relationship issues, sexual identity, sexual and emotional abuse, autism, ADHD, and loss of purpose or meaning.
I previously worked as a practitioner for a helpline supporting children and young people, where I developed extensive experience of working with issues such as anxiety, self-harm, and low self-worth.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked across a range of industries in both the corporate and non-profit worlds, and have seen how work pressures can present in different work environments.
Get in touch.
I offer a free 30-minute consultation for all new clients, where we can talk about what’s going on with you and what you might be looking for from counselling.
If you’d like to find a time to speak, please drop me a message. I'll aim to come back to you within 24 hours.
